Te Mātaiaho (NZ Curriculum)

As a public mainstream school, we are guided by our national curriculum, called Te Mātaiaho. This curriculum has been refreshed and re-launched in a systematic and gradual manner, starting in 2023 with the revised Mathematics and Statistics curriculum.  The Ministry of Education is two years into a six-year programme to refresh The New Zealand Curriculum (NZC), both the overall framework and the eight existing learning areas. Te Mātaiaho will continue the same eight learning areas as in the existing 2007 Curriculum.

Cockle Bay School will continue to build teacher knowledge and capabilities in the new curriculum, and will communicate changes and new approaches with the community that ensures a shared understanding of Te Mātaiaho.
