Principal’s Welcome

Cockle Bay School has a long and proud history of educating children in the local area. There is a strong spirit of community, with supportive parents and students who arrive at school ready to learn. Our students are happy and enthusiastic. For much of its rich history Cockle Bay School has been served well by its touchstone values of continuous improvement, caring and collaboration, and has celebrated its successes.

The school provides high quality teaching and learning programmes within a caring environment for 720 – 830 students. Each is recognised as an individual, with their learning and wellbeing at the heart of all we do. Every student who attends our school has strengths, and it is our role and responsibility to provide an environment where these can be discovered and nurtured.

Staff are dedicated, reflective, and high performing practitioners. The school is well resourced so we can offer a broad range of opportunities to students. Staff engage in regular professional development so that the curriculum is future-focussed and engaging. Particular emphasis is placed on literacy, mathematics, physical education and the arts. There are excellent resources in science and technology. Students  are expected to become critical and creative thinkers, and future-focussed learners, who take responsibility for their own learning. We want them to be resilient and resourceful. We set and maintain high standards and expectations of ourselves, and of our students. By supporting our students to strive for quality in all that they do, they can achieve their potential.

Cockle Bay School acknowledges the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand and its obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We are proud to have students from many different cultures, which reflect the rich ethnic diversity of Tāmaki-Makaurau Auckland. As a school, we value and recognise each other’s cultural heritage and work hard to develop a sense of belonging for all. We believe that if parents and teachers work together in a partnership, children have the best opportunity for success in their learning and personal development.

We are immensely proud of Cockle Bay School and hope that everyone within our school community will find their association with the school rewarding and fulfilling.

We look forward to a happy and positive association with you, your child/children and your family.
