 2025 Carnival – 29 March 2025

The Carnival committee is busy planning this iconic event in our school calendar. They seek about 20 more of our amazing parents to volunteer to help, in a variety of ways, with full support given. A newsletter was emailed home last week. If you can volunteer, please email cbscarnival@cocklebay.school.nz. You will be part of a fun day and your help will be most appreciated.

 Principal’s Message

Kia ora Koutou

We are thrilled to see how well the children have settled into the new school year. A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers for creating such a welcoming and supportive environment, ensuring a smooth and successful start for all.

Pool Usage

Water safety lessons are getting underway, and all students are asked to bring swimwear (rash tops optional) on their rostered days. The focus of lessons is on becoming confident in basic water safety. Our pool is solar heated. Thank you parents for sending to teachers information about your child’s/children’s swimming skills.

Before School

Students are expected to arrive at school around 8:30 am to allow time to unpack their bags and be ready for learning by 8:45 am.

Students arriving before 8:00 am should be enrolled in Bizzy Bodz. Bizzy Bodz provides breakfast and a safe, welcoming environment for children whose parents need to leave for work early.

From 8:00 am, students should wait under the Dome, where informal supervision is provided. At 8:15 am, they are welcome to enter their classrooms or play outside.

Late arrivals must sign in at the office. To ensure a positive start to the day, parents are encouraged to plan their mornings so students arrive on time.

After School

All children are expected to go straight home after school, except in the following cases:

  • Children may stay and play if supervised by a parent or grandparent. Please note that toilets will be locked; in emergencies, visit the office.
  • Children waiting for pickup should stay inside the designated school entrance gate or just outside their classroom door to ensure they can be easily found. Currently, many students are playing on the school playgrounds, making the environment overly busy.

Any student not collected by 3:30 pm should go to the school office.

For families requiring after-school care, Bizzy Bodz offers a supervised programme for enrolled children.

Please discuss after-school routines with your child to ensure they know what to do and stay safe. Thank you.

Ngā mihi

Trouble shooting:

  • You need to access the app for the first time through the email you have been sent and on a computer/desktop or mobile phone
  • Then click on the blue link at the bottom of the email and agree to the the terms and conditions BEFORE you follow the prompts to install the app
