Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and Whānau
I hope everyone has had a relaxing and fun holiday break, and enjoyed the glorious summer weather. A reminder that school recommences on Thursday, 1st February.
In this newsletter, I have included some helpful tips and information that should ensure a positive, happy and calm start to the new year for your child/ren.
Please remember that we are here to help, and let the class teacher (or senior leadership team) know if any extra support is needed or if you have any queries about the transition back to school. You are encouraged to focus your children on all the enjoyable aspects of life at school before their return. It is natural for children to feel a little anxious the night before, and parents play an important role in providing an understanding ear and an optimistic view of returning and establishing friendships.
I’m sure that everyone at school will end the first few days hot and tired, so do try to organise some calming evening activities and early bedtimes for a few days, until routines are re-established.
Please see some reminders below.
- All new students to the school should report to the library from 8:00am onwards to finalise their enrolment and be taken to class.
- School grounds are open at 8:00am, with classrooms open at 8:15am. Any students arriving before 8:15am are to wait under the dome. School starts at 8:45am.
- Any students who arrive after 8:45am should sign in at the school office.
- School ends at 3:00pm. Parents waiting for children are asked to do so well away from classrooms to avoid noise and distraction. Any children who have not been collected should go to the school office and parents will be called.
- Bizzy Bodz offers before and after-school care, by prior arrangement.
On the first day of school, students should be wearing full school uniform (see uniform shop opening times below) and bring:
- morning tea, lunch, and a water-filled drink bottle
- a named uniform sun hat (compulsory), and sunscreen (roll on recommended – optional)
- swimming togs/towel (as a pool time may be offered)
- book to read (this may be helpful for older children)
- stationery (pre-purchased from Paper Plus Howick or lists available on website)
Below is a list of class teachers and their classrooms for 2024. Current students who are unsure of their room number should check with the office on the first day.
Kind regards
Dorothy Bigwood
