Principal’s Message: 22 September 2023
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We have just completed a fantastic run of shows this week and Madagascar Jr was a huge success. Every student in Year 5 and 6 had a part in the production, the singing was amazing, and our lead actors were incredible at remembering all of their lines. A huge thank you to the parents and staff who helped with props, costumes, stage management, sound and lighting and making sure students were organized and on stage in time. A special thank you to our Director, Mrs Lynnette Leggett – we are so lucky to have such a talented music teacher on staff.
We are seeing our values of Caring, Collaboration, Continuous Improvement and Celebration in action, as students have been working with their buddy classes over the past few days. We have seen students working together and learning together, which has created a lovely positive and calm feeling across the school. The Board and PTN have provided an ice block for every student as they leave their classrooms today at 3.00pm as a special treat.
During the school holidays, we welcome families to come and enjoy our school grounds. Parents please ensure your children are supervised at all times as we have a number of projects happening during this time, including tree removal behind Room 25, maintenance on the field, and continuing with toilet upgrades in room 18-21 and room 25.
Over the school holidays we will also have 2 relocatable classrooms with toilets being moved on site. These will have power, internet, heat pumps, ramp access, and will hopefully be ready to use very early in term 4. We would like to thank the Ministry of Education for their swift response and excellent support during this time, as this will ensure minimal disruption to learning for Room 7 and 8 staff and students.
We would like to thank our parents, school community and local East Auckland schools, for reaching out to us during this difficult time. We have received so many emails and messages of support, been provided with home baking and flowers, and a morning tea was provided for staff today on behalf of our PTN.
We have lots of exciting events planned for Term 4 including our Art Exhibition, athletics day, sport competitions, class trips, Year 4 camp, Celebration Night and much more. Mrs Dorothy Bigwood has been on sabbatical this term and we would like to welcome her back from the start of Term 4.
We hope you have a well deserved rest over the holidays and look forward to seeing everyone back in Term 4.
Best regards,
Phebe Rossiter (Acting Principal)
